Since we’ve opened, we’ve been dedicated to changing the lives of people one person at a time, through martial arts, education and coaching. We strive to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for all students and family members in . We take pride in creating an environment for individuals to achieve, develop and succeed in their personal goals.
We strongly believe that martial arts can be for everyone, regardless of age, gender or experience levels. Get To Know Our World Class Instructors
Mr. Sotomayor
Mr. Sotomayor is the owner and head instructor at Jeff Speakman’s Kenpo Redlands. For the past 24 years, Mr. Sotomayor has been studying American Kenpo Karate, with 16 of those years as a direct student of Mr. Jeff Speakman. He is currently a 6th Degree Black Belt in the Kenpo 5.0 System. Mr. Sotomayor is also holds the rank and is recognized as a 3rd Degree Black Belt by the United States Judo Association (USJA). He was a nationally ranked junior judo competitor and has won many local and regional karate tournaments. He is also the former World Karate Organization (WKO) Heavy Weight Sport Karate Champion. Mr. Sotomayor has over 40 years of martial arts experience and has a unique perspective on self-defense but giving students an understanding of what works both in and out of the ring.
Ms. Melissa
Ms. Melissa is a long-time fitness enthusiast and has been involved in fitness for over 30 years. She was a former cardio fitness instructor at 24 Hour Fitness in Fontana. She taught several classes including Salsa Dancing, Cardio Kickboxing, Turbo-Fire, Step and Spinning. She also taught kickboxing at Jeff Speakman’s Xtreme Kenpo Karate in San Bernardino. She now heads our fitness program which includes creating the workouts and meal planning and motivating our students to meet their fitness goals.
Mr. Cody
Mr. Cody has been studying Kenpo under Mr. Sotomayor since he was 15 years old. He continues to study under Mr. Sotomayor and is his highest-ranking student as a 2nd degree black belt in 5.0 Kenpo. Mr. Cody is now giving back and sharing the benefits and lessons he learned which have helped to make him the man, husband and father he is today.
Sensei Mike
Sensei Mike is a 3rd degree black belt in Judo. Sensei Mike started his martial arts career later in life becoming a student of Gary Goltz, head instructor of Goltz Judo in Claremont, CA and former President of the United Stated Judo Association. Sensei Mike was one of the founders of Empire Judo in Fontana and ran the program for years out of the community center in the city. Sensei Mike wrestled in high school which gives our students and added advantage by his being able to blend his knowledge of both into his teaching. After a break from teaching he has joined our team at 5.0 Evolved Martial Arts and is helping to teach our students about the art of judo, which is helping to fully round our student’s martial arts skills.
Ms. Mina
Ms. Mina is a graduate of Encore Performing Arts High School. She continues to pursue her love of acting by appearing in local theatre and college shows. In addition to her own love for acting she has worked with the STAR Quest program at her high school helping to teach younger students the art of acting. She has also worked as program leader for Think Together, which is an after-school enrichment program for school age kids. Ms. Mina manages our front desk and assists our parents and students with basic inquiries about our programs, their accounts and upcoming events. She also is our kids program coordinator which helps to organize our Parent’s Night Out, Summer Camp and After School Program activities.
Mr. Cody
